Although not yet bottled, this 2017 is open on the nose, with lush, juicy, vibrant blackcurrant and blackberry aromas, cut by a sprig of mint. (2/14/20)"ĩ4 points Stephen Brook ( Decanter): "August began cool but September saw record temperatures, followed by a cooler, rainy spell. Medium-to full-bodied, round and savory with creamy, juicy tannins. (Oct 2019)"ĩ5 points James Suckling: "Lots of currant and floral notes on the nose. Medium-bodied, the palate has a lively skip in its step, featuring bags of juicy raspberry and cassis-laced fruit and a refreshing line, supported by ripe, plush tannins, finishing long and graceful. ![]() Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it slowly grows on the nose, revealing compelling notes of baked black cherries, mulberries, black raspberries, warm cassis and blackberry pie with nuances of spice cake, yeast extract, tapenade, licorice and dusty soil with a waft of wild sage. The 2017 Opus One, bottled in July 2019, is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8.5% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4.5% Merlot and 1% Malbec. For instance, when a nozzle fails in a conventional printer, the printing process must be halted. For one, the hardware used in MF3 can be purchased off the shelf and doesn't need to be customized, making potential adoption easier.Īdditionally, because the nozzles can be turned on and off independently, an MF3 printer has built-in resiliency, making it less prone to costly downtime, Cleeman said. MF3's new "toolpath strategy" makes it possible to "concurrently print multiple, geometrically distinct, non-contiguous parts of varying sizes" using a single printer, the researchers wrote in their study.Ĭleeman said he sees numerous benefits to this technology. Rutgers researchers wrote slicer software that optimized the gantry arm's movement and determined when the nozzles should be turned on and off to achieve the highest efficiency. To program a 3D printer, engineers use a software tool called a slicer - computer code that maps an object into the virtual "slices," or layers, that will be printed. Larger-diameter nozzles are faster than smaller ones but generate more ridges and contours that must be smoothed out later, adding significant post-production costs.īy contrast, smaller nozzles deposit material with greater resolution, but current methods with conventional software are too slow to be cost effective.Īt the heart of MF3's innovation is its software. The 3D-printing industry has struggled with what is known as the throughput-resolution tradeoff - the speed at which 3D printers deposit material versus the resolution of the finished product. "MF3 will change how thermo-plastic printing is done," said Cleeman, noting his team has applied for a U.S. By programming their prototype to move in efficient patterns, and by using a series of small nozzles - rather than a single large nozzle, as is common in conventional printing - to deposit molten material, the researchers were able to increase printing resolution and size as well as significantly decrease printing time. The new approach, called Multiplexed Fused Filament Fabrication (MF3), uses a single gantry, the sliding structure on a 3D printer, to print individual or multiple parts simultaneously. In recent years, though, researchers have developed ways to make this innovative technology even more sophisticated by tapping into the fourth dimension. ![]() "We have more tests to run to understand the strength and geometric potential of the parts we can make, but as long as those elements are there, we believe this could be a game changer for the industry," said Jeremy Cleeman, a graduate student researcher at the Rutgers School of Engineering and the lead author of the study. 3D vs 4D Printing Technology The 3D printing process is used across a range of industrial sectors, including aerospace, automotive, medical, and even food and beverage. They detail their work in the journal Additive Manufacturing. ![]() ![]() Email clients that support AMP are able to display components directly inside the email. Web Stories, known as AMP Stories until April 2020, were introduced in 2018. ![]() Internet performance and security company Cloudflare launched an AMP cache in March 2017. Most AMP pages are delivered by Google's AMP cache, but other companies can support AMP caches. The AMP framework consists of three components:ĪMP HTML, which is standard HTML markup with web components ĪMP JavaScript, which manages resource loading and AMP caches, which serve and validate AMP pages. Also on the same day, DuckDuckGo announced that they will also automatically bypass AMP pages on their DuckDuckGo browser and on their DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials browser extension. On April 20, 2022, Brave Browser rolled out new features to automatically bypass AMP pages. In search results, the Top Stories list will no longer be restricted to AMP pages, and AMP pages will no longer be distinguished by an icon. In November, Twitter updated its developer guidelines to say that "We’re in the process of discontinuing support for this feature" the Twitter mobile apps for Android and iOS simply load the non-AMP versions of webpages. Starting in 2021, support for AMP was discontinued in some apps. It works across many device types, including desktop and tablet, and comes with helpful responsive design features. All of these reasons and a dozen others we could have listed all show MM2015 is about both a Limited experience and also a Constructed showcase. Just look at those PAX East spoilers to hype the set: Goyf and Karn Liberated, two Constructed powerhouses from the format. In addition to the quotes I mentioned earlier in the article, this set was always marketed as a Constructed entry point. There are mountains of evidence that Wizards also views it this way. If Goyf is your mascot, you better believe people have high expectations. And really, we need to be honest here: you don't make Goyf the postermonster of your set release to not create high expectations for Constructed playability. It's also supposed to be a set to drum up interest in the Constructed format, both for veterans who just need more cards, and for new players who want to start their Modern collection. Let's start with the Tarmogoyf in the room: does playability really matter for MM2015? Do the cards really need to be Constructed format staples, or is there room for the Limited experience? Although I don't think MM2015 needs to sacrifice Limited for the Constructed players out there (no common Lightning Bolt, thanks very much!), I also think it's pretty clear this is supposed to be a gateway set for aspiring Modern players. This will give us a more objective way of comparing the sets and seeing if MM2015 is really the success story players expected it to be. To do this, I'll identify the "Modern staples" of MM2015 both on their own terms and in comparison to those in the original Modern Masters. This is about the playability of the average Modern Masters card and if the cards making the cut are really "the most beloved and iconic cards" in Modern. Again, this isn't so much a financial analysis, which has already been done in multiple other places. In this article, I want to see if Wizards fulfilled the promises and if Modern Masters 2015 lived up to the hype. This is " Modern Masters 2015", and people want to see Modern playables in the set. ![]() Sure, there would be a Limited component at play, but this isn't "Sealed Masters 2015". The Release Notes affirmed these goals, stating "some of the most beloved and iconic cards from the Modern format will appear in the same booster packs". In their initial set announcement, the designers promised "every card in Modern Masters can be added to your favorite Modern-format decks". Rather, on how the cards in the set truly represent the Modern staples and playables of the namesake format.īy its nature, Modern Masters was promised as a set full of Modern hallmarks. Not just the value: plenty of articles and experts have written extensively on this. But one element missing from most of these analyses is the playability of Modern Masters 2015. There have been numerous articles, posts, and analyses on the set, including both articles and reddit posts on its expected value, general set reviews, and thousands of posts worth of player opinion. It's impossible to not compare it to MM2013. Although all Magic sets produce these divided opinions, it is more pronounced with Modern Masters 2015 because of the value of certain cards and the high expectations surrounding the product. Others lashed out for a supposed lack of solid rares, the absence of other key staples, and other unfavorable comparisons to the first Modern Masters. Some players applauded Wizards for improving the set's mythics, reprinting key staples, and increasing the print run. As with most set releases, the full Modern Masters 2015 Spoiler was met with mixed reviews. ![]() ![]() 3520 SE Powell Blvd., Portland 5.6 mi 4.
